Slickdeals: Coupon Page Re-Design

Purpose: This project was intended to support the case for a redesign of our coupon pages.

Context: Our product team discovered that deals with photos attached significantly outperform deals with information alone. I suspect that the same would be true on our coupons pages. Google’s SEO updates also emphasize the importance of source credibility, so I think adding sections that emphasize our team of editors and verification process could be helpful.

Considerations:

We likely would only get the resources to update a few elements, I focus on creating a new tile layout for offers that would still work with many existing site elements.

We’ve learned from SEO data that displaying the coupon code increases traffic but lowers RPV since people can copy & paste or retype the code instead of clicking through our affiliate link. My compromise is adding the code text to the button itself.

Visually distinguishing coupon codes from offers can help a user the information they’re looking for faster—most users come to this page after they’ve made their selections and are ready to check out their carts. Highlighting the best available code at the top both 1) answers their query faster 2) emphasizes these codes have been reviewed by editors.

Including a slot for popular, trending Frontpage Deals sourced from the rest of the Slickdeals website allows us to leverage resources that other coupon websites cannot. Prominently displaying likes and comments from the community also improves the credibility of the page, emphasizing that this deal was chosen by a large real shoppers.
